The Best Baselayers for the Winter Season
Matt Heaton
The temperatures have fallen, we even wore a base layer to work this other day. So we thought it best to take the time out to discuss the best baselayers out there on the market, for the cold-blooded creatures among us, or simply for those looking to stay warm and cosy this season.
Helly Hansen LIFA® Active is the perfect baselayer for winter months, especially if you're a cold blooded creature. This base layer offers moisture management, light weight warmth for all-day comfort.

Love this Berghaus short sleeve crew. It's made using Berghaus' Argentium eyelet fabric, which offers permanent moisture management and wicking properties. It also uses silver ion technology for odour resistance and provides UPF 30+ sun protection. This one we spotted on Cotswold Outdoor site.

Dare2Be have great baselayer options available for women. This one caught our eye though as it's leopard print. Its seamless construction means it's extra comfy, so perfect layer for skiing, boarding, hiking or biking. This can be bought through Dare2Be site and Cotswold Outdoor site.

We love this baselayer option because it's a bit colourful! The Super.Natural Women's Base Long Sleeve Top 140 is also lightweight, has high merino content in the fabric so offers excellent thermo regulation and is naturally odour resistant. We weren't overly familiar with Super.Natural, but we found out that, "Super.Natural combines the benefits of natural merino wool with the cutting edge technology of engineered fibres to build progressive performance clothing that works without compromise. We are committed that our unique blends of legendary merino and technical fibres deliver the best performance in any environment."
Can't say better than that!

And finally, drum roll please, for the best baselayer for the minimalist. This plain black baselayer from Icebreaker - their Everyday Long Sleeve Crewe Base Layer. This one is available directly from Icebreaker or on Surfdome site. It's a perfect slim fit, pure Merino Wool fabric for odour prevention, comfort and lightweight feel. We also love this anti-chafe forward side seams and flatlock stitching feature.
